Isaiah Thomas Back In Action

Finally after almost half the season has passed by, All-Star point guard, Isaiah Thomas will join his Cleveland Cavalier teammates in a game for the first time since they acquired him in the off-season for Kyrie Irving. Thomas had hip surgery in the off-season and couldn’t participate in on the court activities until only a couple of weeks ago. It’ll be interesting to see if head coach Tyron Lue starts Isaiah in his first game action back since last seasons playoffs. The Cavaliers started off slow but picked it up in a big way with LeBron James carrying the load to say the least.

I always thought Isaiah was a great point guard going back to his Sacramento Kings days but since he’s only 5’9″ general managers (Phoenix and Boston as well) never saw him as a long-term solution, thinking he couldn’t hold up against taller and stronger NBA players. Well he’s proven those GM’s wrong with a great All-Star season last season in Boston and showing he can definitely perform in one of the most prestigious markets in the NBA. As a Phoenix Suns fan, I hated to see them let go of Isaiah Thomas and instead stick with Eric Bledsoe, who just this season stated he didn’t want to be in Phoenix anymore and was traded to the Bucks. So in essence, the Suns had 3 All-Star caliber point guards in Thomas, Bledsoe and Dragic and now have none of them and are relying on Tyler Ulis and journeyman Isaiah Canaan to run the point for a now rebuilding Suns squad.

Here’s Isaiah Thomas discussing his return. http://www.nba.com/video/2018/01/01/20180101-cle-isaiah-thomas-shootaround

Fantasy Basketball

Its been a bad week to say the least for one of my fantasy basketball teams (yahoo sports). First off I had the number four pick in the draft and I regretfully chose Steph Curry. To make it worse, the greek freak was available and I passed a stat stuffer for a fragile shooter. He ends up spraining his ankle and is out at least two weeks and i had to put him on the injured list. Already on the IL for me is Blake Griffin, who is out at least eight weeks. Then just yesterday another one of my players Devin Booker hurt his quad and is now out at least two weeks and there’s no more injured list spots available so i just have to shorthanded until one of them becomes healthy again. To fill the voids for the time being, I picked up Kris Dunn and Rajon Rondo. Hopefully they can stay hot and keep my team in first place.
