Is Baker Mayfield The Next Manziel?

Both have Heisman trophies and both absolutely love the spotlight, even if it’s for the wrong reasons. If you haven’t heard about Maziels failed NFL endeavor and off the field antics then can I call you Patrick the star? Basically he was caught doing drugs, always partying, and not taking the NFL seriously at all. Baker Mayfield, the QB of Oklahoma, is killing defenses and perhaps his draft stock with his on and off the field issues. From egging on opposing fans, staking an Ohio State flag at mid-field or grabbing his crotch aimed towards the Kansas Jayhawks, he definitely has an ego up to the moon and is competitive as hell. Both him and Manziel can definitely light up opposing college defenses but we already saw in Manziel’s case that the NFL is a whole new playground. I hope Mayfield doesn’t follow Jonny Football’s legacy and can be successful in the NFL because I see great competitor and somebody who actually wants to win and not solely the spotlight.

Here’s a video of Baker Mayfield running from the police.

El Clásico 2017

What a second half performance by FC Barcelona as they scored three goals against hated rival Real Madrid. 3-0 was the final score. The first half was a different story though with Madrid winning possession and controlling the half. FC Barcelona must have looked at themselves in the mirror and given a pep talk at halftime. They started to play classic Barça football with great passing and controlled possession.

Luis Suarez began the scoring in the 54′ on a great counter attack led by Ivan Rakatic who passed it to Sergio Roberto who then provided a perfect little cross to Suarez who put it in the back of the net with a hard low driven shot. The best player in the world, Lionel Messi scored the second in the 64′ on a penalty kick that resulted from a hand ball on the goal line which of course led to a red card for Dani Carvajal. Lastly, defender Aleix Vidal who came on in the 90′ just as fresh defending legs found himself in prime position in the middle of the box and received a pass from Messi. Vidal shot it on the ground underneath a diving Keylor Navas (Real Madrid’s goalkeeper) to make it 3-0 in the 90+3′ and to just rub it in the face of Madrid, which I loved to witness. And, of course I can’t forget to leave out the German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who once again put on a clinic making some huge saves and adding another clean sheet to his résumé. #ForçaBarça

Lavar Ball Staring His Own League

Thats right,  Lavar is going to start up a new basketball league that will include the top amateur players around the country instead of going to college. He plans on paying the players $3,000 to $10,000 per month. The NCAA refuses to pay their athletes but find themselves making millions of dollars on their student-athletes likeness. That sounds unfair and I believe it is because nearly every NBA prospect that plays in college doesn’t care about the free education they’re getting but instead only focused on making it to the NBA and getting paid. This idea has been a long time coming but just needed somebody bold enough and to pull this off and Lavar is that definitely that guy.

Dick Enberg Passes Away

Long time and legendary sports commentator Dick Enberg has passed away at the age of 82. He’s called practically every major sport out there in including UCLA basketball, LA Rams football, Angels and Padres baseball, tennis and many many others. He will be greatly missed by me and his colleagues. Very surprising news as he was doing a weekly podcast and tweeting everyday as if his retirement and health were in good shape.

Longoria Goes From One Bay To Another

The San Francisco Giants have acquired three-time American League all-star Evan Longoria from the Tampa Bay Rays. The Giants are sending their number one ranked prospect, shortstop Christian Arroyo along with veteran outfielder Denard Span and two other minor league prospects.

Longoria hit .261 with 20 home runs and 86 RBI. Not only is he a good hitter, he won his third hold glove last season. Giants are filling a big hole at third base with this acquisition and are definitely not done making moves i would think.
